Gura Humorului

Gura Humorului city is located at the eastern limit Obcinile Bukovina in homonymous depression at the confluence with the river Humor Moldova at this from the city. Gura Humorului is situated at an altitude of 470 m, having a climate with sedative properties. The place was sought, since the second half of the nineteenth century as climate resort. The city is located at 33.7 km. from Suceava.

On the left bank of Moldova river, from its confluence with the Humor River upstream to the right places at the stone pine, a meadow stretches, called, in old times, "the washer". The approximately 25 acres of meadow was used as a pasture. Willows, tall and branches, shade and there poor meadow grass. Severe storms - especially the west unleashed - have shot down most of the trees and river floods - water power unleashed - have pulled the thin layer of earth that covered prundişurile fertile alluvial sands, making it useless a great part of the pasture washers.

First documentary mention of the town was on 26 February 1490, in a note issued by the office of Stephen the Great.
On 10 September 1782 in Gura Humorului moved Austrian military command, which builds a fortress.
After 1800, the city began to establish German, Polish, Hebrew, Ukrainian, etc.., Founded in 1835, the colony named "Bori".

In 1835 the area is linked by telegraph to Vienna, and in 1904 it declared the city.

During the interwar period the city was residing in the county Campulung.

Between 1956-1958 the mayor Gheorghe Lupu. Under his leadership were made on the development project hydrotechnics Moldova. In 1971, 1972 and 1973 occurred indundaţii which almost entirely destroyed dikes. In subsequent years, between 1972-1981, was mayor Peter Taranu. During his mandate was strengthened and the left bank of Moldova was carried out systematic area. Paths were created and the space between them covered with a layer of fertile soil in which trees and shrubs were planted in different species, some of them considered monuments. In the southeast part of the park was arranged Dendrological modern sports complex with a series of land for practicing various branches of sport. Thus Washer former was transformed into recreation area.

Government Decision was approved certification nr.114/2005 town of Gura Humorului, Suceava County resorts of national interest. [4]
City's image will be radically changed by applying a European Union PHARE program, worth 8.9 million euros.
The project entitled "Cross country skiing, tourist orientation, Meadow Park Moldova, Entertainment, Sports, Gura Humorului will be arranged in a ski length of 1350 meters, equipped with a lift and a snow-product plant . Since January 2010, Pirte ski "Falcon" was once in use, equipped with night air along the length of 1350 meters with an air lift and snow product. Also in the slope parking for 360 cars and buses 9.
